Is it true that metal drainage pipes are required for draining 3-comp. sinks in restaurants or is PVC legal?
I've never seen it, but I've got a Plumbing foreman that swears it's a code. I can't find it in the code book though. I'm specifically talking about the drianage pipes attached to the strainers that dump into the floor drain. He asked me to replace the 2" PVC pipes I installed with the old 1 1/2" tubular chrome plated stuff he originally had installed. Any licensed plumbers out there care to comment?
you need to check your codes, but pvc is fine, EXCEPT if you are draining water temps over 140' F, then it needs to be metal (copper, cast iron)
