2. Pushing the switch on the inside dashboard
3. Pressing button located under trunk handle.
Besides the obvious of calling the dealership, I was just wondering if there was any other method to get the trunk open and also what could have happened to generate this type of problem? There are also no signs of any kind of force against the rear end, either.

I doubt the latch broke. You said you tried the keyless remote, meaning it electric trunk popper. so if the latch broke you would still here the motor in the trunk popping. the latch isnt broke. open your driver side door, in between the door and the side of your dash is a compartment full of fuses. open fuse door, look at back side of the fuse door and find the fuse for the trunk. It will more than likely be abreviated "trnk" pull the fuse and its more than likely going to be blown. take the fuse to your nearest auto parts store, or even a walmart and get the same fuse & amp. more than likely a 20 amp fuse. a box of 5 fuses is only like 3$
