Hot Wheels Stealth Rides: The Small But Mighty RC Vehicle
The history of radio control (R/C or just known as RC) toys might be traced back to the late 19th century when Nikola Tesla demonstrated a circuits-controlled boat during an exhibition at the Madison Square Garden. More than a century later, in 1960s to be more precise, an Italian company from Reggio Emilia began to promote and sell RC cars at Milan Toy Fair. When the UK toys company Lesney released its Matchbox vehicles the US based Mattel also released its first die-cast toy vehicles into the marketplace to heat up the competition. Compared to its competitor Hot Wheels vehicles have low friction wheels which show beautifully well in small path racing.
Renowned for its details, tiny scale and being authorized by respected car makers for instance General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler, Hot Wheels continue to be favourite die-cast toy vehicles for collectors around the world. Over the following years, Mattel launched lines of Hot Wheels vehicles that includes fashionable vehicles including Custom Camaro and Volkswagen. The company also develops Hot Wheels' tires, paint and performance to cut back friction and enhance speed, amongst others. In this 2010, Mattel launches its latest invented R/C vehicles that is called Hot Wheels Stealth Rides that come in a number of varieties specifically Stealth Rides Racing Car, Stealth Rides Power Tread and Stealth Rides Batmobile Tumbler.
Being the first collapsible RC Toys that Mattel has ever made, makes Stealth Rides unusual. The vehicles folds flatly and transform into completely functioning radio control through the push of a button. Once you open the package, no need to charge the car -it comes with ready-to-use AG13 (LF44) batteries. All Hot Wheels Stealth Rides transform into 3D vehicle easily through a single push and they simply ride.
At a value of about lower than $25, these tiny but powerful toys would absolutely convey the racing track excitement to any living room. Children ages 8 and above will take pleasure in playing with the Hot Wheels Stealth Rides indoor. The vehicles include spare batteries and instructions, and the infrared channel settings permit players to set unique channels for the period of multiplayer racing. Being mini RC cars which are strong, simple-to-assembly, quick, foldable and lightweight, the portable Hot Wheels Stealth Rides are must-have items for any Hot Wheels collector this holiday.
Things That Look Like Other Things: "Mino" by Giovanni Tomasini (Core77)
Young Italian designer Giovanni Tomasini is pleased to present his latest
project, the "Mino" garden gnome, a traditional lawn ornament made of compost:
> The garden dwarf tradition is older than what is commonly believed.
Originating in XVII century Germany, garden dwarfs were exported by an English
nobleman to decorate his garden, and they have now become the globally
widespread kitsch ornaments that we all know. Despite its jazzy colours, the
modern dwarf is a melancholic figure, condemned to a purely decorative
function within a domesticated and artificial environment. Mino, on the other
hand, lives in a garden full of life, destined to survive for one season only
to then die with pride by feeding the surrounding vegetation.
The designer notes on Inhabitat that he's currently seeking a company to
invest in his design...
