Why St. Andrews Is Worth Visiting!
Located in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, one of New Brunswick's and North America's best vacation destinations, the world famous Fairmont Algonquin Resort has been inviting visitors for at least a century.
Named one of Canada's Top 10 Public Gardens and an Attractions Canada national winner for best developed outdoor attraction, Kingsbrae Garden, a majestic 27 acre horticultural masterwork sitting inside the heart of Saint Andrews is open daily for everyone to enjoy from mid May till October. With over 40,000 trees, plants and perennials, a striking view of Minister's Island and overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay, the constantly changing garden extends a natural invitation to return again and again.
Established in 1964 and located inside Centennial House, a previous general store on the Saint Andrews' waterfront, Sunbury Shores is, as its name suggests, a meeting place for the study, practice and appreciation of fine art and craft, for natural history study and for conservation education.
The Centre offers a year round exhibition gallery, as well as artist's studios, a pro print shop, library, children's nature room, pottery studio, children's programs, nature excursions and a globally recognized summer art school featuring respected artists as instructors every year.
The active and the intrepid will find a plethora of adventure in St. Andrews by-the-Sea. Be it seaside golf, a dozen of whale-watching vessels with an equal number of whale species to view, or a relaxing stroll around our important community with a detailed walking map, Saint Andrews offers something for everybody. Other activities include sea canoeing, hiking, trails to impressive lookout points, tennis, fishing, river cruising, scuba diving, guided walking tours, a considerable number of parks and open spaces for picnics, and children's play-grounds.
While golf has been played in these parts since 1890, the new course that was created in 1998 became operational in July 2000. The golfer will capture impressive vistas of the St. Croix River and then as they come down the slope of the tough, wind-swept par 3, 12th hole, will be afforded a sweeping view of the Saint Andrews harbor. By the time they reach the Clubhouse, positioned on a knoll looking out over the town and Navy Island, they'll have earned a well deserved break. Enjoy!
Interested in a visit? Luckily , there are a large amount of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick resorts. And if you're in Saint Andrews between May and October, ensure you use that opportunity to experience whale watching Bay of Fundy style!
sneak peek: gregory beauchamp (Design*Sponge)
Gregory Beauchamp likes to say that his home in Venice Beach, California, is a
stone's throw from the ocean — but only if you have a good arm. With his
penchant for oranges, reds and browns, Gregory likes to channel a sort of city
version of 1970s off-the-grid living, but where the hippies would have...
