How Decorate The Dining Room

The dining room may well be one of your least used rooms in your house. In modern families most people tend to eat in the living room or the kitchen. In fact you may only use the living room when you've got guests round. This room will often have an air of formality to it for this reason. If this is the case you need to make sure the furniture is also rather formal.

Dining room furniture may seem pretty simple. After all you only need some nice chairs and a big table, maybe a display cabinet. Unfortunately it's not this simple. First off you're going to need good quality dining room furniture. After all you don't want your Sunday roast ending up in someone's lap because a chair leg gave way. This may sound expensive but something like a solid Vancouver oak dining set would be more of an investment than an expense. Most dining rooms will also have some form of display cabinets. Again these don't need to be elaborate they just need to be practical. The room could be injected with some character by having your nice china on display. Make sure you also have the cutlery and table ware handy in this cabinet as wel.

The dining room needs to be kept simple in comparison to the rest of the house. After all you're in this room to enjoy food and company. If you want to add some more character try some large wall hangings. By having a fussy wall pattern or decor you'll simply end up taking the focus away from the food. Don't forget to think about the lighting too for the dining room. unless you're a awful cook you're going to want people to see what they're eating. The lighting should follow the same rule as the decor, simple and easy.
