Pop Art - Painting Live Do's And Don'ts
Over and again, a local resident from Bridgewater has put on canvas the spectacular image of Shenandoah Valley. Having been painting for 36 years of her life, capturing landscape beauty isn't the only reason why she carries around easel and oils to mountains and cornfields. She also uses pictures cut out from the daily newspapers in order to paint. If you like this paintings article check out photos to oil paintings for more top quality information.
She tells us that the clippings are her way of using black and white again to put back the color, like in the old days. She tells us more about her hobby of cutting out pictures of animals and objects, which then lets her arrange a more impressive scenic painting. While telling that the huge mural stretching 15 by 4 ft on her family room is a product of this hobby of hers, she holds up the worn out newspaper with two millstones in it. The rustic scene of the millhouse and the grey mill wheels perfectly complement one another, and the riverbank.
The artist makes it clear that the mural on the wall is the result of incorporating all her photograph detailing techniques, which she also uses for weather board buildings, farm crops and equipment, and wood land animal paintings. To make it, she only needs water. Because water goes fast, it's not so hard to paint using it.
She showed a new photo cut out about a snow scene and mentioned that she will begin painting it soon. Snow is fast and easy to make, too. She only has two smaller scenes besides the mural that are hung around her home. Most of her paintings, apparently, were sold right after having been finished or given away to friends. In Hagerstown, Maryland, there is a furniture store that helps her sell her stuff. When somebody, like a neighbor or a friend asks for her to paint, she does it willingly. It's sometimes hard to keep track of all orders due to their sheer numbers. She usually gets quite a few rights around Christmas time.
The artist, who is a native of the Green mount section of Rockingham County, began painting when she was 13, when an old lady in the neighborhood gave her a few lessons. A whole afternoon lesson only cost her 25 cents that day. She showed a small pallet that her mom made from a lightweight board with a paring knife and a drill. Although the old pallet was smeared with paint everywhere, a note was decoupage on it telling how it was made.
About six years ago, their church has been put down, but she decided to use a family room in their home for remaining items. The river view is amazing as the sun passes through the glass wall that covers the whole face of the room. According to her, they wanted to bring the outside on the inside.
There is something she couldn't quite put a finger on while painting that mural. Three quarters through completion she had to sand paper the painting because her kids didn't like how the painting fell to the foliage in rusts, gold and reds, as well as the tithe painting which didn't complement the room. The artist chose to keep the place as it is, and not add anymore pictures which will be most likely ignored anyway; she chose to direct the people's attention on the mural, which tells how much she loves painting.
