Strategies For Aging A New Mirror

Do you want a way to age your new mirror? Well I will make an attempt to help you. In the past 2 years I have written a lot on decorativemirrorsand my experience has helped thousands of website visitors. If you want to be one those people then I suggest you take a few minutes to read through this brief but useful article.

You can convert the glass area of the frame to look like an aged mirror using a variety of ways. If you are not using unframed mirrors you even have an option to convert the frame to a tray. {You Can do this even withThis can even be done with} some mirror but do read makeup mirror reviews first

You can choose to use either a gelatin or silver. For something cheaper you can go for aluminum leaf. I know that most chemical kits cost something like $90 for 300 square feet but you can just use the latter on glass at a smaller fee than most| however, you can also just use the aluminum leaf because it is cheaper.

I must mention that that this does not always work effectively especially because most people have trouble removing the grey paint on the back of the mirrors.

You can also try to use Antique Mirror Patina, which is an alkaline solution that is water based and simulates the tarnish and old look of an antique mirror in a new one. You can do it on your own at $80 or so i.e. about $2 per square feet.

These are a sample of options to consider when trying to convert your best decorative mirrors or any type you may have into an antique. I do believe that what I have provided will help you get started.

Can I water-base paint over an oil-base primer (specifically BIN primer sealer)?

I found a can of Zinsser BIN white pigmented shellac primer sealer stain killer (to be exact) and was thinking of using this on an unfinished wood project, which I will be painting over with a water-base paint (Formby's antiquing kit) followed by glaze. Is this okay?
