Inexpensive ideas for welcome bags?
My fiance and I are getting married at an Adirondack lodge on a lake. Most, if not all, of our guests will be staying at the lodge for atleast the night of the wedding (we are getting married memorial day weekend so they may stay longer). I would like to make welcome bags but I dont want the same stuff that everyone uses to go in mine. I'll include bottles of water, some snacks and small liquor bottles but what else can I include that isn't over played but also isn't expensive? There isnt much in the area for tourism so including a brochure for things to do is pointless, not to mention most everyone is somewhat local (its about an hour drive from my home town). In lew of paying for brunch the next day (which would be an extra $15 per person), I was thinking about making muffins and packaging them nicely in the welcome bag along with some personalized coffee and disposable coffee cups. What else could I include? Thanks for the help.
Wow. I think this sounds cool and you're definitely going above and beyond the call of duty. You're not responsible for their breakfast the next day, so anything you put in there is extra special. I might not do the muffins, only because of issue related to keeping them fresh and then transporting them without getting crushed. If the lodge can't provide them the day you check in (and then you'd just add them to the bags) I'd put in a piece of fruit (banana, orange, apple) and maybe small pieces of prepackaged cheese (like Laughing Cow). This won't add much, and then just get those individual packets of coffee, tea or even hot chocolate. I'd think the room would provide cups. This wouldn't cost much and it's really the idea more than anything. If someone needs or wants a huge brunch, they're just going to get it and pay for it.
